Pt5 - Mastering The Art of Social Media Scheduling

In today's fast-paced digital world, social media is more than just a platform to share selfies or cat videos. It's a vital tool for businesses, influencers, and brands to connect with their audience, drive engagement, and amplify their message. But with the myriad of platforms and the constant need for fresh content, how does one keep up? Enter: social media scheduling.

Why is Consistent Posting Important?

1. Builds Trust and Reliability: When you post regularly, your audience knows you're active, engaged, and invested in providing them value.

2. Improved Engagement: Consistency keeps your brand at the forefront of your audience's minds, leading to better engagement rates.

3. Optimized Reach: Algorithms of platforms like Facebook and Instagram favour profiles that post regularly.

Crafting a Stellar Content Calendar

1. Set Clear Goals: Before you decide what to post, know why you're posting. Is it to drive traffic to your website, increase product sales, or boost brand awareness? Remember how I talked about 'SMART Goals' in a previous blog post?

2. Know Your Audience: Analyse your audience's demographics, interests, and online behaviour. This will guide the type of content you create. You can easily find this information for Facebook and Instagram on their insights page in the Business Suite.

3. Diversify Your Content: Avoid monotony. Mix up your content with images, videos, infographics, and other formats. Take a look at what your competitors are doing for some fresh ideas!

4. Plan Ahead: Major holidays, events, or industry-specific dates should be noted. Tailoring your content around these can spike engagement, especially when paired with relevent hashtags!

5. Stay Flexible: While it's essential to plan, always leave room for spontaneity. Breaking news or trends can offer opportunities for real-time engagement. I loved having patterend grids on my Instagram, but found this really limited me when there were one off opportunities to reach new customers or jump on tredsnds - so don't be too precious!

6. Allocate Time for Review: Before content goes live, ensure it aligns with your brand voice and is free from errors. Read the copy 2 or 3 times before posting just to make sure all your spelling and grammer is correct - and double check any text in photos! Whilst you can edit your copy, you will have to pull down an entire post if you find an error in your imagery!

Top Social Media Management Tools

I specialise in using the Meta products (Facebook and Instagram), and have been very happy with using their in-built Social Media Management Tools. If, however, you use other platforms and want to have everything all in one place, or perhaps you want something that offers a robust analytics report system too, then why not take a look at the most popular SMM tools listed below:

1. Buffer: An intuitive, easy-to-use platform that supports most major social networks. Buffer's analytics tools make it easy to track engagement and adjust strategies accordingly.

2. Hootsuite: One of the most popular tools out there, Hootsuite supports scheduling across multiple platforms and offers in-depth analytics and monitoring tools.

3. Sprout Social: Beyond scheduling, Sprout Social provides robust reporting tools, helping brands make data-driven decisions.

4. Later: Specifically tailored for Instagram, Later offers visual content scheduling, making it easier to plan your feed's look.

5. SocialBee: This tool categorizes your content to ensure a diverse mix, making sure you're not just consistently posting, but also diversely posting.

If you use any of these tools I would love to hear your feedback in the comments below!

In Conclusion

Mastering social media scheduling is not just about posting regularly; it's about posting smart. By understanding your audience, planning strategically with a content calendar, and using the right tools, you can elevate your social media game, ensuring maximum engagement and reach. Remember, in the world of social media, consistency combined with quality is the key to success. Happy scheduling!
